What is an Approved Green Business?

Approved Green Businesses are companies which have fulfilled the necessary requirements in becoming more responsible stewards of the community and environment. Such organizations place social and environmental commitments within their core operational strategies.

What are the requirements for becoming an Approved Green Business?

All companies endeavoring to become Approved Green Businesses must complete the Guidelines to Sustainability, a comprehensive online checklist & system which assists its user in focusing on high-priority changes and strategies today, while promoting understanding of potentially valuable steps that can be taken in the future.

How does becoming an Approved Green Business benefit a company?

Businesses seek to distinguish themselves from their competition. That is nothing new. However, the ways in which that is being done are changing. Providing quality products/services at competitive pricing, all the while offering first-class customer interactions, are paramount to success, but no longer the only requirements. A comprehensive program of Going Green is now viewed as the essential final step in attaining new customers (See FAQ "LOHAS").

The Approved Green Business Program serves as that final step, guiding a company into becoming a responsible member of the community, their industry, and the planet.

What is LOHAS?

According to the Wikipedia, LOHAS (Lifestyles Of Health And Sustainability) is a demographic defining a particular market segment related to sustainable living, “green” ecological initiatives, and generally composed of a relatively upscale and well-educated population segment. It is estimated that there are over 40 million people in the US in this demographic. Worldwide estimates indicate annual spending by LOHAS of over $300 billion dollars.

With over 200 million people between the age of 18 and 70 in the US, that extrapolates to 1 in every 5 people, or approximately 20% of your potential customer base!

What is the cost of the Approved Green Business Program?

As a primary feature of membership within the Greater Good Alliance, it is now included in that program's cost of $50 per month, regardless of the number of employees.  To assist those who give so much back, we offer the same services of the Approved Green Business Program for our partnering 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations at no cost.
