Nissan Leaf Among 1st All-Electric Car to Market

Have you been waiting for that first affordable plug in electric vehicle?  While we have been reading news for years about the Chevy Volt and Toyota’s expected plug in Prius, Nissan Motors has been quietly developing and testing the Leaf, their rechargeable hatchback.  Built for city driving, the battery powered, zero emissions Leaf will have a range of 100 miles per charge under everyday driving conditions.  The new Leaf will require the installation of a charging station in your garage.

The Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) is posted on Nissan’s website as $32,780.  However, the company is quick to point out that federal tax rebates of up to $7500 may be available. The installation and purchase of the charging station may also be eligible for federal and some state tax incentives.

According to the company, they expect to begin taking firm orders on the vehicle, with deliveries beginning in December.  Can’t wait? You can go directly to their website and, for $100, reserve delivery – over 50,000 consumers have already signed up.
