Tax Incentives
EPAct your way to savings.
Building Owners:
How many square feet is your building? Got it? Good. Now multiply that by 1.8. That’s $1.80, and it represents the maximum tax deduction available for energy efficiency upgrades. Stemming from the Energy Policy Act of 2005, recently extended through December 31, 2013 (known simply as EPAct), it allows for a one-time deduction of up to $0.60 from each of three categories: Lighting, Building Envelope, and HVAC.
Example project:
100,000 sq. ft. facility performed sufficient upgrades to receive all $1.80 of the tax deduction. For that fiscal year, they may claim a tax deduction of:
$180,000
Recognized by the IRS to perform the Energy Certification Process, our team of engineers will work with you from eligibility to approval so that you can rest easy knowing the deduction will be received in its maximum amount without delay.
Architects, Lighting, and HVAC Designers:
- Federal tax incentive (that’s $1.80 per square foot) can allow for design of energy efficient systems within new or existing public buildings on the Federal, state, or municipality levels
